Grade 5 is the most common grade used in manufacturing assembly. Grade 5 bolts have 3 marks or lines on the head that are in the shape of a “Y”. Grade 5 bolts are very similar to ASTM A325 bolts in regards to their chemical and mechanical properties. A325 structural bolts are typically heavy hex bolts, whereas Grade 5 bolts are most typically made, and are readily available, in a standard hex bolt configuration.
